Biography

Dr. Joanne S. Luciano is a Visiting Associate Professor of Data Science in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, Indiana University.

Dr. Joanne Luciano is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary scientist and consulting engineer leading research, development, technology, and education in industry and academia. She is an expert in the creation and application of computational methods to facilitate scientific research and data utilization. Her expertise is at the intersection of the life sciences, mathematics, and knowledge technology with degrees in computer science and cognitive and neural systems. Her multidisciplinary skills and diverse work experience roles are coupled with exceptional listening and analytical skills that make her a sought after asset.

She has over 25 years in technology research and development, product development, consultant, trusted advisor, and business development strategist. The organizations range from start-ups to large corporations, roles include hands-on technical, research, development, data science, project management, quality engineering and assurance, knowledge representation, intellectual property assessment, competitive analysis, patent infringement, due diligence, forensic research, and business development strategy. Companies include: Massachusetts General Hospital, WANG Laboratories, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Pfizer, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Eli Lilly, MITRE, Memorial Sloan Kettering, General Electric Global Research Laboratories, Emergent Network Defense, Elsevier Science.
