Educational opportunities for forward-looking careers are available at the School of Informatics and Computing. We offer a variety of academic approaches to the questions of the information age. The Computer Science and Informatics Department has long roots at Indiana University. The Department of Computer Science was established in 1971. Building on an environment of innovation, the IU School of Informatics was founded in 2000 – and joined with the Department of Computer Science in 2005.
The programs in the Information and Library Science Department have been accredited by the American Library Association since 1951. These programs joined the School in 2013 to form one of the most creative educational units in the computer and information technology field. The School is a founding member of the iSchool Caucus, and our faculty members are active leadership roles in numerous professional organizations around the country.
