Sure, IU offers a lot of financial assistance, but we offer scholarships exclusively for informatics, computer science, and intelligent systems engineering students.

Through its own application and selection process, SoIC grants a variety of scholarships to students. So you may plan accordingly, please note the following schedule of events in the application and selection process.

Scholarship Application Timetable

February - April: Electronic scholarship application sent to certified SoIC students

May - June: Applications reviewed by Scholarship Selection Committee, comprised of SoIC faculty

June: Scholarship recipients notified by email

June - July: Scholarship funds awarded to student accounts

Accelerator Scholarship

Amount: Varies, $500 - $1,000
Major: Computer Science, Informatics
GPA: Minimum 3.0
Class Standing: Undergraduate
Preference or Special Consideration: None

Number and recipients determined by the Scholarship Selection Committee.

Blue Horseshoe Scholars - Accelerator Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Major: Computer Science, Informatics
GPA: Minimum 3.2
Class Standing: Undergraduate
Preference or Special Considerations: Underrepresented populations; preference to women. If informatics major, preference for the following cognates: computer science, business, and/or math.

Cigital - Accelerator Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Major: Computer Science, Informatics
GPA: Computer Science Students: 3.2 minimum; Informatics Students: 3.5 minimum
Class Standing: Juniors
Preference or Special Considerations: Minimum one female from each informatics and computer science annually. Also underrepresented populations, including financially challenged and/or with diverse cultural experiences.

Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC)Senior Scholarship

Class Standing: Seniors; minimum of two annually; selected in spring of the junior year.
Preference or Special Consideration: Must have a record of innovation, community service, or academic excellence.

Direct Admit Scholarship

Amount: $500 - $2,000
Major: Direct-admitted to SoIC

Class Standing: Incoming freshmen; renewable
Preference or Special Considerations: Based on standardized test scores and application essay.

John R. Gibbs Scholarship for Innovation

Amount: Varies, typically $2,400
Major: Computer Science, Informatics
GPA: N/A
Class Standing: Incoming Freshman; renewable.
Preference or Special Consideration: Preference for those demonstrating or expressing interest in innovation and entrapreneurship. Preference to Indiana residents and those with financial need when all other qualities are equal.

Melanie & Dennis Groth Scholarship

Preference or Special Consideration: Preference to students demonstrating strong leadership qualities and service to undergraduate program.

Hudson and Holland Scholars

Interactive Intelligence Scholars Program

Amount: $1,000

Kohl's Scholars

GPA: Minimum 3.2 for Computer Science majors; minimum 3.5 for Informatics majors.

Preference or Special Considerations: Students with permanent address in Indiana or Midwest region, including Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

Krane Scholar Award (2018) Project Support

This award alternates between SoIC and The Media School and encourages collaboration between the disciplines. In even years it is awarded to a SoIC student, in odd years to a Media School student.
