SoIC Pacesetters Program

Mission:

Their mission is to positively influence outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives via sharing a student perspective.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and implementing various outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives via sharing a student perspective.
  • Actively interact with the community, prospective students and their families, as well as current IU students.
  • Assist with diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development seminars.
  • Participate in special events.
  • Serve as hosts.
  • And so much more!

Requirements: SoIC Pacesetters must have

  • An interest in public speaking.
  • An interest in promoting the various opportunities in the field of technology and the School of Informatics and Computing.
  • An interest in supporting the School of Informatics and Computing's outreach, recruitment, and retention initiatives.
  • An interest in the School of Informatics and Computing's diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • The availability to commit at least 5 hours a week to the program.

Incentive: The School of Informatics and Computing will financially support each SoIC Pacesetter with a $500/semester award.

Advantages: The SoIC Pacesetter will:

  • Gain valuable leadership experience and increased self understanding.
  • Gain extensive knowledge about the School of Informatics and Computing.
  • Interact with the School of Informatics and Computing faculty and staff.
