NSF/JSMF Workshop on Mapping of Science and Semantic Web
SLIS faculty members Katy Börner and Ying Ding, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Professor Peter Fox, have organized a National Science Foundation (NSF)/ James S. McDonnell Foundation (JSMF) Workshop on Mapping of Science and Semantic Web. It will be held at Indiana University, Bloomington Campus, Wells Library, Room E174 on March 4-5, 2010.
Workshop Goals and Agenda:
"This 1 ½ day workshop brings together semantic web researchers and science map makers to discuss the impact and potential collaboration of utilizing semantic web technologies and fast-growing linked semantic data to improve access to and understanding of science and technology data. Demonstration of existing approaches, tools, and techniques as well as discussion of synergies, will provide a point of departure for developing improved interfaces to massive amounts of semantic web data for researchers, educators and the general public alike.
- The goals of the meeting are:
- Present and discuss current research in semantic web research and science map making.
- Identify synergistic collaboration opportunities and challenges.
- Outline a course of activities over the next 5 years."
