SLIS Ph.D. Student - Data Visualization Workshop in Spain
The group photo here is from in front of the Tabakalera, a "Culture Factory" in San Sebastián. The workshop objective was to connect "scientific vision with artistic expression by means of the data visualization, and it pretends to provide conceptual and technical tools that allow the artist to carry out his/her research from solidly-contrasted perspectives." It was held August 10-22, 2009.
Her presentation (August 12) was entitled "Analyzing and Visualizing the Structure and Evolution of the World Wide Science." In an email interview Angela stated that her presentation: "gave a broad overview of the activities of the Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center, including descriptions of the Places and Spaces: Mapping Science exhibit, the Scholarly Database, and Network Workbench." SLIS Professor Katy Börner is the Director of the Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center, and Zoss is a Research Assistant with the Center.
Zoss also gave feedback on the workshop participants' data visualization projects.
