For: Prospective underrepresented and minority Ph.D. and MFA students interested in being admitted to Indiana University Bloomington in Fall 2016

“Getting You into IU” Fall 2016 is for prospective underrepresented and minority students interested in being admitted to Ph.D. and MFA programs at Indiana University Bloomington starting in the Fall 2016.  Participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who will have completed a bachelor’s degree prior to the start of the 2015-2016 academic year. You must apply to be considered for this program. Your application must be completed online 2015 Getting You Into IU Student Application  and submitted by September 7, 2015.  As part of the application process, prospective students will need to submit the following:

  • A brief summary of your academic experiences
  • Identify your prospective Ph.D. or MFA program
  • List the names of 3-5 IUB faculty members you are interested in meeting during your visit
  • A resume or curriculum vitae (CF)
  • Unofficial transcripts which can be emailed to
  • Recommendation from a faculty member/mentor (highly recommended but not required)

Selected participants will get a glimpse into life as a graduate student.  You will attend various sessions on IUB programs, graduate life at IU, how to prepare a competitive application for admission and fellowships, etc. There will be campus tours as well as tours of departments and research facilities. You will have opportunities to meet with faculty, staff, current students, and other prospective students as well as attend a class.

Indiana University Graduate School and its campus partners will provide all travel, lodging, and meals for participants selected for this program.
