Be Prepared
The skills you need to land a great first job after graduation are skills that will help you throughout your whole career. Learning how to network with industry insiders, keeping up to speed with new technologies and innovations, and learning how to express yourself well won’t just help you ace an interview—they’ll make you a more valuable employee every day.
The more preparation you put into your job search, the better your results will be. Don’t forget:
- Meet with a Career Services advisor early in your college career
- Keep your GPA above 3.0, or you’ll miss out on 25-30% of employers
- Get a technology-related part-time job in your sophomore or junior year
- Get involved in extracurricular activities for teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills
- Find a summer internship your sophomore or junior year
- Build your tech-skill toolbox through individual training and workshops
- Develop your personal brand with the help of a Career Services advisor
